SirkTRE’s Evolution or Circulution?: Diverse Pathways of Circular Systemic Solutions for a Net-Zero Timber-Built Environment

This paper evaluates the importance, successes and challenges of scaling up circular wood solutions within the construction industry.

The Norwegian SirkTRE project has highlighted that these circular solutions are often feasible but struggle in advancing past various barriers to reach a systematic approach, integrating governance and business models. This paper explores circular systematic solutions derived from the SirkTRE project case studies.

This paper relates to the Nordic Demonstrator, which focuses on the use of reclaimed timber for innovative structural and load bearing purposes within temporary commercial buildings. This paper was written by a range of professionals including Wendy Wuyts and Kristine Nore from Omtre, the co-leader of the Nordic Demonstrator.
